Goals For Middle School Parents
Dear Middle School Parents,
Consider me a partner with you to ensure that your young teen develops a very real personal relationship with Christ and enjoys a healthy lifelong walk with God!
In order to help them achieve this (somewhat ethereal) goal I want to give you some practical steps that you can measure. Steps to help your middle school student establish a daily walk with Jesus:
Step 1. Students need to be involved in weekly activities with church such as Sunday school, The Main Service, and Wednesday Nights at least 80% of the time. Hebrews 10:25
Step 2. Students need to be involved in serving opportunities that will help them put action to their beliefs. Luke 6:38
Step 3. Parents need to lead some kind of Family Devotions at home on a daily basis. Deuteronomy 11:19-20
Step 4. Every student needs to have at least 7 friends at church. This can be accomplished through networking with other parents and families, consistent attendance, and a friendly attitude. Romans 12:5
Questions You Can't Afford to NOT Ask:
Are you praying daily for your family and asking God to minister to their hearts?
What will it take for your student to achieve the measurable steps (Above), and how can you take steps of faith to help them achieve it?
What positive changes do YOU need to be make in your family's daily routine?
As the parent of a middle schooler personally, I want to issue this as a practical challenge to the rest of the parents.
According to George Barna, the most influential people in the life of a teenager is their parent. He says there is no other group that even comes close. The national study for youth and religion conducted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel hill was the most extensive study ever done on the religious faith of America’s teenagers. They said, by far the most influential people in the faith of a teenager is their parents. 75% of all teenagers will do whatever their parents do. What parents consider important, the students will consider important, bottom line.
Partnering Together,
Pastor __________
