Game Instructions:
Glow in the Dark Volleyball- Students will pick sides of the court and leader will introduce rules. 1. Spread Out and Pick a Spot to stand. 2. Lights will go out and the glowing ball will be released. 3. You may only pivot move, but may not lift more than one foot, or the other team gets the point. 4. Work together to get the ball back over to the other side, in bounds. 5. Other standard Volleyball rules apply.
Human Ring Toss- You have two teams of three. One person is the "thrower" and stands on stage blindfolded. The second person is the "peg", standing on a chair in the middle of the audience. The third person is the "director", and retrieves the rings (hula-hoops) and gives directions to the thrower, (throw higher, more left, etc.). Both teams get 90 seconds. Team with the most ‘ringers’ at the end gets a free snack coupon.
Small Group Discussion Questions
1. Be honest, What are some of the things you find yourself being envious over the most? (Leader may need to share a personal example to get things going)
2. What do you think about the Bible verse that compares being envy to rotting bones? Does that make you think differently about envy? Why or Why not?
3. How do you think it makes God feel when you’re envious over other people and the things they have? Do you think it makes Him feel like you’re not thankful for all the things He’s blessed you with?
4. When you focus on being thankful for what you have, is it harder to be envious of others? Why do you think that is?
5. Do you think that if you saw yourself the way God sees you, you’d still struggle with being envious of other people? Why or Why not?
6. Ask yourself, are you content with your life and the things in it? Is there anyone who is willing to share their answer? Anyone else?
7. Do you think that you would be less envious if you were content with yourself and your life? Why or Why not?
8. We talked about how being selfish leads to envy, and being selfless makes envy go away. What are some ways you could be selfless and think of others more than yourself this week?
9. Do you think that talking to God when you feel envious will help you get over your envy? Do you think He wants to hear about it? Why or Why not?
10. Do you think that comparing yourself to others is what leads to you being envious of them? Do you want to stop comparing yourself to others? Why or why not?
