Our WINS As a Youth Leader Team
Summary:
-Baseball Game analogy- The goal of baseball is to get to home base and score a run. When a player hits the ball and gets to first base everyone claps, when he gets to home base everyone stands up and cheers because they know the rules of the
game and what a Win looks like.
-We have tremendous talent and skill on our adult leader team.
-We understand that people (our team) will do just about anything to Win on a team, but in church ministry sometimes it’s hard to know where the scoreboard is and what a “run” looks like.
-Here's what some of our wins look like so that when we score a run it is obvious.
-I believe our wins are easily attainable and strategic.
WINS-
1. It is a win when, Youth Leaders follow up with absentees from their small group on Wednesdays. Pcctoday.com has a backend database that connects small group leaders to all their student’s contact information. If a student is not in our database, update their information the next time you see them. Call Church for helps.
2. It is a win when, Our services have good transitions between one thing and another. It helps maintain quality and student attention. Be ready when it’s your turn, Have your part prepared ahead of time, keep up with the order of service. Ask if you have any questions.
3. It’s a win when, We have students sign up and follow through with their commitment to the student sign up list. We need a coordinator for the list and will help recruit & remind students. (List is on Bulletin Board for a reference) Always feel free to ask P.A. Questions.
4. It’s a win when, adults are spending time developing relationships with students, not just babysitting them. Talk to them, ask them questions about how their week went, play the games, make memories together.
5. It’s a win when, we have an adult go looking for a student who takes a bathroom break for more than 5 minutes and brings them back to service.
6. It’s a win when, we get new converts a new believers booklet and invite them to our next discipleship opportunity (Sun. & Wed.).
7. It’s a win when, we have Youth Leaders at events. Our goal is to have an 8 to 1 student to adult ratio at our services and monthly events. If you can make it, its a win.
8. It’s a win when, we have students at events. Students need to make memories together and develop community. They need to experience God in new ways, and every event that we do has a purpose behind it- Reach, Grow, Serve, Fellowship, or Worship, and sometimes a mix of several. Every student needs to have a personal invite from their small group leader or other adult and another student to a relevant event. We don’t want to have to turn adults away from an event because we don’t have enough students. If you really want to go to a certain event, make sure 8 people from your small group will be there.
9. It’s a win when, Youth Leaders spread out among students during service. This helps with crowd control and relationship building. If a student is being disruptive when they should be paying attention our disciplinary steps are 1. Request that they be quiet 2. Reseat them if they don’t stop 3. Remove them if necessary “Tonight’s just not your night, let’s go out and talk.” Be discerning not to clamp down too hard, and especially not during the HIGH FUN portion of the event.
10. It’s a win when, visitors fill out a visitor card (located at the snack shack or back counter)
These are some WINS that we have on our scoreboard. They are specific and attainable. Let’s win this generation & their friends for Christ!
