Philosophy for Youth Ministry

Matthew 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Ephesians 4:12-16
“We are to prepare God’s” people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

2 Timothy 2:2
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

Goals for Youth Ministry

Our objective is to offer young people opportunities to grow in an atmosphere that can only be found at church. We have specific goals in mind to help guide, as well as to help us evaluate our effectiveness in meeting the needs of young people.  The areas we focus on developing in their lives are:

Faith in Jesus Christ- Help young people find a commitment to Jesus as Savior & Lord

Response to Scripture- Lead young people to read and respond to the bible on a daily basis.

Love for Others- Challenge young people to express God’s love to others through speech and action.

Effective Prayer- Help young people gain skill in prayer and meditation as a part of their personal devotional life.

Ethical Behavior- Help young people develop a lifestyle based on the gospel.

Church Participation- Help young people see the church as the body of Christ and begin to realize their place in it.

Family Life- Support young people in building positive relationships with parents and family as well as help them develop a capacity to respect and have intimacy in their home.

Personal Development- Help young people understand and accept themselves and gain confidence in dealing with personal problems of identity and vocation.

Responsibility to the World- Confront young people with their responsibility to their circles of influence, community, & the world.

Growth in the Holy Spirit- Lead young people the spiritual experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit which progresses in mature discipleship.
